Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:15am – 3:15pm
Pay: £90 per day, with potential for a higher rate from April
We’re seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant supporting learners within our Autism Base. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with additional learning and emotional needs in a nurturing, specialist school environment.
We’re looking for an encouraging, patient and dedicated individual to workwith two pupils at a Secondary School in the Vale of Glamorgan to help with basic tasks.
Whether you’re a psychology graduate or someone that holds prior experience working with children, this is a chance to make a positive impact on individuals with their behaviour, and emotional wellbeing in a supportive setting.
What you will be doing:
Supporting 2 pupils within the base with Autism - 1 pupil with sensory needs who is highly anxious and the other pupil with behavioural needs. Patiently and encouragingly supporting these pupils, whilst building nurturing relationships.
Responsible for corresponding with class teachers to obtain work and assist with schoolwork.
Some support will be within the specialised base and have access to mainstream lessons.
Develop the pupils with life skills and help regulate them by playing games/ doing crafts.
Always ensuring that safeguarding procedures are followed, maintaining the highest standards of student welfare and safety.
About you:
Prior Teaching Assistant Experience (preferred but not required)
Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Patient, calm, and the ability to adapt to different situations.
Maintaining safeguarding policies, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the 2 pupils you will be supporting.
Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset.
Able to commit to full-time (08:10-15:10)
Willingness to learn and undertake training as necessary to support students with diverse physical and educational needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
