plus up to a £3,000 market supplement for suitable candidates

About the role:
We are currently seeking an English Lecturer to join our English and Maths department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Deliver High-Quality English Teaching – Plan and deliver engaging lessons across multiple levels, ensuring individual learner needs are met.
- Assess & Monitor Progress – Prepare schemes of work, assess to awarding body standards, track student progress, and provide timely interventions.
- Enhance Student Experience – Support tutorials, promote vocational opportunities, and maintain inclusive, safe learning environments.
- Contribute to Curriculum & Quality – Develop innovative resources, participate in course reviews, marketing activities, and ensure compliance with quality processes.
- Uphold Professional Standards – Maintain safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety compliance while engaging in continuous professional development.
About you:
- Essential Qualifications – Degree or Level 5 qualification in English, Certificate in Education/PGCE (or equivalent), and GCSE Maths & English (A–C).
- Teaching Expertiseb> – Recent experience teaching and assessing GCSE English Language (Pearson specification), strong classroom management, and ability to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
- Knowledge & Professional Skills – Up-to-date subject knowledge, ability to use Microsoft Office confidently, complete administrative tasks accurately, and meet deadlines.
- Interpersonal & Team Skills – Strong communication, organisational and influencing skills, ability to build positive relationships and contribute effectively to team objectives.
- Values & Flexibility – Commitment to safeguarding, EDI, College values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty), willingness to travel across sites, and maintain CPD.
