Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester serving around 4,800 full‑time 16‑19 students and providing a range of adult education courses from entry level courses for speakers of other languages through to Masters degrees. In October 2024, the College received its Outstanding judgement confirmed by Ofsted, a rating the College has held since 2004.

Responsibilities
- Curriculum provision; quality; student welfare, discipline and safeguarding; planning; budget; marketing; line management of staff; and ensuring consistency and quality of provision across the College.
- Lead a Faculty and support Teams of Heads of Subject, Senior Tutors, a Faculty Administrator and other support staff specialists.
- Manage complex individual pastoral cases with extensive experience of student casework.
- Contribute to the wider life of the organisation, working term‑time, Enrolment Week and ten additional days above the normal teaching contract, including key dates such as A‑level results day.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified, highly experienced and exceptional sixth‑form teacher with management experience, preferably in a sixth‑form college through a curriculum or pastoral role, or both.
- Strong leadership skills and excellent communication.
- Extensive experience of student casework, safeguarding matters, good judgement and personal resilience.
- Good awareness of issues in post 16 education.
- Member of the Teachers Pension Scheme (unless opting out).
