Lead the future of Innovation, Design and Technology at Wellington School. As an ambitious and forward‑thinking school, we are seeking an exceptional Head of Innovation, Design and Technology (IDT) to join us from September 2026. As Head of Innovation, Design and Technology, you will lead and inspire pupils to think differently – combining design, engineering and digital creativity to solve real‑world challenges. You will oversee a rich, forward‑looking curriculum from Key Stage 3 to A Level, while driving innovation across the School through interdisciplinary projects, partnerships and future‑focused initiatives. Working in outstanding, purpose‑built facilities and alongside a small, passionate team, you will have the freedom to develop new ideas, experiment with cutting‑edge technologies, and inspire the next generation of innovators, designers and problem‑solvers.

About the role Reporting to the Deputy Head (Academic), you will:

• Lead and develop the Innovation, Design and Technology Department, inspiring excellence in teaching and learning.
• Deliver engaging and rigorous lessons in Design and Technology from Key Stage 3 to A Level.
• Drive curriculum development that integrates design, engineering and digital innovation.
• Oversee departmental performance, outcomes and professional growth among staff.
• Encourage curiosity, creativity and high academic standards across the School community.
• Foster partnerships and cross‑curricular projects that celebrate innovation and problem‑solving.
• Support and contribute to the School's co‑curricular life, including clubs, trips, STEM initiatives and weekend activities.
• Promote and uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, pastoral care and student wellbeing.

• A well‑qualified background in Design and Technology, Engineering or Product Design, with the ability to teach up to A Level.
• Inspirational leadership skills and a collaborative, forward‑thinking approach.
• A passion for innovation, emerging technologies and hands‑on learning.
• A proven ability to combine creativity with academic rigour.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A commitment to the wider life of a busy, vibrant boarding school and a genuine enthusiasm for contributing to enrichment, co‑curricular and pastoral programmes.
• A positive 'can‑do' attitude and a willingness to take an active role in weekend or extracurricular activities.
