Trust Senior Registrar STin General Surgery

Overview

This is a 12‑month full‑time Trust Senior Registrar post in General Surgery based at Yeovil District Hospital within Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. The role includes participation in a 1:8 registrar level on call rota covering general surgery and urology, supported by consultants across Yeovil and Musgrove Park Hospitals. The post offers broad surgical exposure including colorectal, benign upper GI, abdominal wall, breast, paediatric surgery and opportunities to assist in robotic cases.

• Manage elective and emergency surgical patients.
• Lead the on‑call team and support junior doctors.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective care.
• Take part in clinics, ward work, SDEC sessions, audit, quality improvement and research.

• Completed Core Surgical Training and preparing for an ST3 NTN application.
• Willingness to develop a portfolio for future surgical training applications.
