Fixed Term Consultant Clinical Oncologist – Breast Cancer
Applications are invited for a Fixed Term Consultant Clinical Oncologist with an interest in Breast cancers, based at the Sussex Cancer Centre at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with sessions throughout the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. If a permanent role is not appointed for the Consultant Clinical Oncologist – Breast (-RSCHCONONCBREAST-494-B), this post will offer a 6‑month fixed‑term appointment initially with a view to extend for a further 6 months.
Aboutthe Sussex Cancer Centre Oncology Service
- Team of oncologists employed through University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust working across five hospital locations – Brighton, Haywards Heath, Worthing, Hastings, Eastbourne – providing clinical and medical oncology care to the population of Sussex.
- New appointee will work alongside colleagues in the Urology site reference groups comprising a multidisciplinary team of clinical oncologists, medical oncologists, pharmacists, clinical nurse specialists and cancer support workers.
- On Call Commitment at the Royal Sussex County Hospital on a >1:9 rota (currently 1:17).
- Joined by a team of 30 Clinical/medical consultant oncologists delivering a comprehensive oncology service across Brighton, Worthing, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne and Hastings – key duties include regular outpatient clinics, MDM attendance, SACT prescribing and oversight, radiotherapy planning, clinical supervision of non‑medical staff, clinical governance, service developments, ward reviews and on call.
- Active role in education for trainees at all grades and contribution to teaching and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff and AHP/nurses. Encourage participation in audit projects.
