Consultant Clinical Oncologist Lower GI & Clinical Trials

This post is for a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with an interest in Lower GI and clinical trials, based in Brighton but with cross site working in Eastbourne (ESHT), as part of UHSussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The workload predominantly relates to outpatient clinical activity, with regular commitments to caring for general oncology inpatients and review of patients in the same day emergency care unit as well as taking part in an out of hours oncology on call rota.
In addition, the post will require clinical leadership, MDT attendance and active participation, medical student and registrar teaching, and there will be clinical research opportunities.
Main duties of the jobThe clinical duties of the post include the following:
- SACT & Radiotherapy prescribing
- Clinical trials leadership and delivery
- Clinical admin generated from patients seen and liaison with other AHPs, and primary care
- Clinical Governance meetings
- Ward reviews when appropriate

Person Specification Experience/ Qualifications- oFull GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- oCCT in oncology or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
- oEntry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
- oHigher Degree
- oEvidence of training in broad spectrum of oncology tumour sites
- oInterest and training suitable for a LGI cancer oncology post
- oBreadth of experience in and outside specialty
- oExperience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
- oUnderstanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
- oEvidence of managerial skills:

- oEvidence of an interest and commitment to teaching
- oRecognised teaching qualification
- oEvidence of participation in audit Experience of planning, and delivering clinical research including liaison with national groups, third sector and commercial funders
