Consultant in Gastroenterology

We are thrilled to announce that with the launch of our Community Diagnostic Centre in West Swindon in November 2025 we are looking to expand our Gastroenterology team.

We are seeking experienced Consultants to join our Gastroenterology and Hepatology department, joining an existing team of 8 senior medical staff including Consultants & SAS doctors who work across 6 endoscopy rooms and screening (ERCP/stenting) facilities.

The launch of the Community Diagnostic Centre in November 2025 makes this an incredible time of innovation and expansion for the service and the successful candidate will work across dual sites between the Great Western Hospital and the CDC.

If you would like to find out more information about this opportunity or to arrange a brief department walk around, please get in touch with Rob Emmins, Assistant General Manager on

We use the latest Olympus scopes and stacks for both sites and offer ERCP EUS BCSP Small Bowel Capsule endoscopy, Oesophageal dilatation and 1 GA list/month. We also plan to commence Oesophageal stenting, which is currently done in radiology with plans to incorporate this into the gastroenterology screening lists in the future.

The post holder would be encouraged to develop and lead a subspecialty interest. Upper GI and HPB cancer are managed collaboratively with John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford.

Our MDT’s are well supported by pathology, radiology and surgeons working very closely with our surgical and radiology colleagues.
