Overview
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Clinical Oncologist with an interest in Breast cancers, based at the Sussex Cancer Centre at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton but with sessions throughout University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The “Sussex Cancer Centre Oncology Service” is a team of oncologists employed through University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, providing clinical and medical oncology care to the population of Sussex.
This includes non-surgical cancer treatments across five hospital locations – Brighton, Haywards Heath, Worthing, Hastings, Eastbourne – with acute service support in Chichester. The appointee will work alongside colleagues in multidisciplinary groups and will have an On Call Commitment at the Royal Sussex County Hospital on a >1:9 rota (currently 1:17). The appointee will join a team of 30 Clinical/Medical Consultant Oncologists who deliver a comprehensive oncology service across Sussex.
Key duties will include regular outpatient clinics, MDM attendance, SACT prescribing and oversight, Radiotherapy planning, clinical supervision of non-medical staff, clinical governance, service developments, ward reviews and on-call duties. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will take an active role in education for trainees at all grades. The appointee will contribute to teaching and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff and AHP/nurses.
