Quantity Surveyor

Location: Birmingham (Site Based)

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Role Overview

The Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial and cost management support across demolition, ground remediation and earthworks projects from tender stage through to final account. This includes cost planning, procurement, subcontract management, valuations and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered within budget and in line with contractual requirements. The role plays a key part in protecting commercial interests, managing risk and supporting successful project delivery.

The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with operational and estimating teams to ensure smooth handover from tender to delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with cost planning and commercial input during tender stage
  • Prepare and manage project budgets and cost forecasts
  • Produce and submit interim valuations and applications for payment
  • Measure works and prepare Bills of Quantities where required
  • Procure subcontract packages and manage subcontractor accounts
  • Analyse subcontract quotations and ensure scope completeness
  • Negotiate subcontract terms and final accounts
  • Identify and manage variations, change control and cost recovery
  • Monitor project costs and report on financial performance

    Attend site meetings and liaise with operational teams
  • Support risk management and contractual compliance
  • Manage and respond to commercial queries
  • Maintain accurate records to ensure smooth final account settlement
