Stock & Costing Manager – Maternity Cover

We are looking for a Stock & Costing Manager to cover maternity leave within the team. You will be based at our Pembridge site in Herefordshire, with hybrid working available following an initial training period. This is a full‑time role working 39 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, on a fixed‑term basis for up to 18 months.

You will ensure that Costing & Stock processes are adhered to, and that materials are costed with accuracy. You will provide analysis that supports business decisions using Costing & Stock information, drive efficiencies within the Costing & Stock department, and develop the team to their maximum potential.

• Review weekly variances at the Pembridge, Basildon, Selby & Glossop sites to ensure data accuracy and understand where significant variances can be addressed.
• Challenge the operations teams to improve their Stock & Costing KPIs and ensure that standard costs accurately reflect cost to manufacture.
• Ensure all PI checks for the four sites are carried out each month and review results with the Stock Accountant.
• Manage and develop the UK Costing & Stock Team, providing support and building a world‑class costing function.
• Complete regular appraisals with team members, including setting and reviewing clear objectives.
• Maintain strong financial control over Engineering Spares in PEMAC, including regular spare‑parts counts and accurate valuations.
• Perform monthly cost roll‑ups for all materials across the four sites, liaising with purchasing for latest costs and with commercial to confirm and explain cost‑price movements.
• Update labour and energy rates based on latest costs and production volumes.
• Ensure best‑practice stock management across the four sites, assisting the stock analyst to improve processes and analysis.
• Support the business’s working‑capital reduction targets through stock management, balancing operational and commercial needs.
• Maintain the CMS system, ensuring changes are appropriately requested, recorded, authorized and audited.
• Demonstrate a continuous‑improvement mindset to identify process efficiencies.
• Complete daily IPR/PCC submissions with the Compliance Accountant.
• Provide month‑end commentary for manufacturing variances.
• Ensure full compliance with the authority matrix and the Group Accounting Manual.
• Complete monthly Comshare schedules: KPI variance analysis, operations and stock.
• Assist with internal and external audits, providing requested information.

We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications and experience.

• An accounting qualification such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA and/or a bachelor’s degree, or working towards one.
• Experience working as a Stock & Costing accountant or in a similar role.
• Demonstrated ongoing professional development.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience using SAP or another accounting system.
• Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Experience managing or supervising a team of employees.
