Senior Software Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer you will work with a team of full-stack developers that work on all server-side aspects of smart home security. Our mandate is broad and includes processing security events, provisioning equipment, monitoring station signaling, testing automation and integrating a wide and diverse set of devices with the  connected ecosystem. Our software development includes backend services, websites, and database design that make up our whole ecosystem.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunities to work across a variety of technical areas. Typical projects involve diverse technologies and require close collaboration with device engineers, business partners, and other engineering teams. Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to self-learn are must-have attributes. Candidate must be able to communicate well within a team and work independently on self-directed tasks.

• Develop full stack software for a wide variety of platforms and technologies.
• Participate in the entire project lifecycle, from requirements development to deployment, with cross-team collaboration.
• Engage in researching, evaluating, and applying new technologies and methodologies to solve challenging goals.
• Exercise good judgment: know when to move quickly and when to build robust solutions.
• Bring your ideas: collaborate on product development, not just build to a spec.

We are seeking someone who has:

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Experience leading and mentoring other engineers
• Strong object-oriented programming skills; C# a plus
• Experience with database design and development

• Experience with or understanding of firmware and electrical engineering
• Experience with high-availability, high-throughput services
• Experience with external facing APIs and/or third-party platform integrations
• Familiarity with distributed event streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka)
• Experience with JavaScript development using an established JS framework, such as Ember
