We are seeking a Community Associations Associate Attorney licensed in Maryland to support a high-volume community association and HOA collections practice with a balanced workload and long-term growth opportunity.
Responsibilities- Independently manage a caseload of approximately 250 to 400 active collection matters from intake through resolution
- Partner closely with paralegals, administrative staff, and senior attorneys to drive efficient case progression
- Review governing documents and client materials and draft legal analyses and opinions for internal review
- Appear regularly in district and abatement courts across multiple jurisdictions to enforce covenants and collection matters
- Communicate directly with community association clients and management agents, including routine status reporting
- Track and manage billing for hourly and task-based fixed fee matters
- Attend on-site client meetings, including board meetings and community elections as needed
- Maintain an annual billable target of approximately 1,700 hours with a flexible hybrid schedule following an initial ramp-up period
- JD from an accredited law school with active and good standing Maryland bar admission
- 2 to 4 years of general collections experience, preferably representing banks, creditors, or community associations
- Working knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act compliance, district court practice, and post-judgment enforcement
- Strong legal research, writing, and client communication skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage a large active caseload efficiently
- Prior experience coordinating with paralegals or support staff preferred
- Legal project management exposure is a plus
