CFO - Defense Tech

Job Overview

A defense technology company scaling rapidly to support the U.S. military and national security community is looking for a seasoned CFO to help us grow responsibly, raise capital strategically, and build the financial infrastructure to support our next phase.

As CFO, you’ll be a key member of our executive leadership team, owning all aspects of financial strategy, planning, and operations. You’ll work closely with the CEO and Board to drive growth, manage government contract finances, and lead capital markets activity.

• Own financial strategy, planning, budgeting, and forecasting
• Lead capital raising efforts (debt, equity, and government funding)
• Manage all government contracting finance including FAR/DFARS compliance, DCAA audits, and cost accounting
• Build and scale the finance and accounting team
• Oversee pricing strategy across cost-plus, fixed-price, and T&M contracts
• Partner with business development on proposals and program finance
• Prepare board and investor reporting
• Drive M&A diligence and integration as opportunities arise
• Ensure compliance with ITAR/EAR, SOX (if applicable), and export controls

• 15+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 in defense or government contracting
• Deep familiarity with FAR/DFARS, CAS, and DCAA compliance
• Experience raising capital and managing investor relations
• Prior CFO or VP Finance experience at a growth‑stage or public company
• Strong leadership presence and board‑level communication skills
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one preferred
• CPA or MBA strongly preferred
