Summary
The Childcare Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children. Teachers plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes each child’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth, while maintaining compliance with state licensing regulations and Chroma Early Learning Academy’s standards of excellence.
Duties- Plan and implement daily lesson plans that support age-appropriate learning and align with Chroma’s curriculum standards.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that encourages exploration, discovery, and independence.
- Maintain a safe and healthy classroom by following state licensing guidelines and Bright from the Start regulations.
- Observe, assess, and document children’s development and progress.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding their child’s growth, achievements, and needs.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure consistency in care and education across the center.
- Display and encourage process art and print-rich classroom environments to support creativity and literacy.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, lesson plans, and other required documentation.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing training.
- Support management and staff as needed, including flexibility to assist in other classrooms or roles.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children in a childcare or school setting.
- Knowledge of Bright from the Start standards and child development best practices.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and engage in activities with children both indoors and outdoors.
