An Industrial Maintenance Electrician performs a large variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy. They coordinate, participate, assist, construct, fabricate, install, repair and maintain generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems and electronic controls as required for plant operations.
Responsibilities- Assist supervisor in planning, scheduling and assigning various jobs.
- Order parts and materials for electrical department from warehouse and purchasing department as required to install and maintain equipment.
- Locate, diagnose and repair troubles in electrical systems and equipment.
- Work with electrical hand and power tools, measuring and testing instruments.
- Assist maintenance millwrights in dismantling or partially dismantling machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble and make vital repairs or adjustments as required.
- Use and interpret for others complicated blueprints and drawings.
- Troubleshoot breakdowns to resolve cause of trouble while keeping work of unit on schedule.
- Always follow safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate work performed to their supervisor, next shift, and maintenance scheduler.
- Keep work area clean, safe, and orderly.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.
- Have verifiable and consistent work experience.
- Pass a written exam to demonstrate knowledge of various electrical topics (the result will be used to determine a candidate’s base knowledge for the appropriate starting wage).
- Pass an employment background check, drug screening, and physical fitness test (to be coordinated through Tyler Pipe's HR & Safety Departments).
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to identify technical malfunctions in electrical units and systems.
- Understanding of the correct handling and use of electrical repair tools and equipment.
- Ability to effectively manage time and coordinate work functions with co-workers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Initiative and ability to work unsupervised at times.
- Willingness to work when needed and to help and volunteer across a variety of different machines.
- Dedication to safety by following all safety rules/procedures and wearing required PPE.
- Ability to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
