Position Summary

This professional position combines customer service and purchasing responsibilities. Account Managers ensure customer requirements are met by working with outside sales, quality, and supply chain, while controlling inventory, reducing costs, and increasing profit margins. Fast‑paced, high‑demand role managing multiple tasks and projects.

Reports to:

Account Management Team Leader.

Essential Functions
  • Commit to FIELD’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Fieldamentals.
  • Serve as a proactive and strategic contact for existing accounts and new business.
  • Establish, maintain, and grow existing account relationships.
  • Service inventory management and consignment systems.
  • Place purchase orders for customers to meet requirements.
  • Develop target customer service level and team goals.
  • Provide product knowledge support to suppliers and customers.
  • Resolve and negotiate slow‑moving/obsolescent inventory issues.
  • Manage account margins, inventory turns, and on-time delivery.
  • Provide pricing quotations to existing customers via suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing with existing/new suppliers for best cost and quality.
  • Collaborate with outside sales to manage key accounts.
  • Identify new business avenues with existing customers.
  • Maintain awareness of marketplace and competitive environment to recommend strategies.
Education, Skills and Experience Required
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Polite and professional manner.
  • 3-5 years in customer service, purchasing, account management, inside sales, or related area.
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced, team‑based environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Strong time‑management and detail‑orientation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong influencing skills.
  • Highly motivated and well organized.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of results.
  • Ability to drive results with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business‑related field or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Previous experience in the fastener industry.
