Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology unit requiring a TX or compact license, Epic experience, and at least 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience.

• Position is on a general medical-surgical and oncology/hematology unit with telemetry capability
• Unit includes 36 private rooms split between med-surg and oncology patients
• Patient population consists of young adult to geriatric oncology, hematology, and general med/surg overflow
• Patient ratio is typically 1:6
• Must be able to float to other units as needed
• Day shifts are 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:00
• Required to work weekends for half of the contract
• Epic charting system is used
• Responsibilities include managing a varied med-surg, oncology, and hematology patient caseload with telemetry monitoring
• No travel pairs or group travelers permitted
• A maximum of 3 days of requested time off (RTO) will be auto-approved; no RTO allowed during the first week of orientation
• Scrub or dress code requirements not specified

• Active TX or compact state RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Epic experience required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Applicants must not reside within 50 miles of the facility or in specified local counties
• No first-time travelers will be considered
• Former permanent staff must have been gone for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
