Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring a TX or compact RN license and strong med/surg and ortho skills.

Responsibilities
Work in a 36-bed Medical Surgical unit with orthopedic and general med/surg patient population
Typical patient ratio is 1:6
Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
Must work half of scheduled shifts on weekends
Epic EMR experience preferred and Prev EPIC required
Expected to perform clinical duties such as colostomy care, feeding tube management, hemodialysis care, blood product administration, and wound care
Not accepting first-time travelers for this assignment
No travel pairs or groups will be considered
Candidates who have worked as permanent staff must be gone for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
Residents of specified counties within a 50-mile radius are not eligible
No more than 3 days of requested time off (RTO) will be auto-approved; no RTO granted during the first week of orientation

Requirements
Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration
Minimum of 2 years recent med/surg nursing experience required
BLS required; ACLS and NIH preferred
Med/surg and MS/Tele skills required including colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure care
Must be experienced in accessing ports, administering blood products, central and peripheral line management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and starting IVs

Experience with ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, and wound care required

Experience with respiratory equipment and tracheostomy management required
Previous Epic charting experience preferred
