Overview

UT Health East Texas is seeking a BE/BC Advanced Endoscopy Trained Gastroenterologist to join its practice at UT Quitman (35 miles north of Tyler, TX) and UT Pittsburg, TX (55 miles north of Tyler, TX).

  • Join 8 physicians, 14 advanced providers and support staff
  • Support two rural Critical Access hospitals – 25 beds each

About the Facilities

Both UT Health Pittsburg (constructed 2009) and UT Health Quitman (constructed 2013) are 25-bed critical access hospitals offering 24-hour emergency designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level III Stroke Center; surgical suites, advanced diagnostic technology, sleep lab, and swing bed care to the communities they serve. Joint Commission Accredited, UT Health Pittsburg was recently named a "Top 123 Hospital of 2023" from The Leap Frog Group.

UT Health East Texas is comprised of 10 hospitals, more than 90 clinics, the Olympic Plaza Tower, 13 regional rehabilitation facilities, two freestanding emergency centers, regional home health services covering 41 counties, an EMS fleet of more than 50 ambulances and four helicopters, and a comprehensive seven-trauma center care network, including the region’s only Level 1 trauma facility. In 2024, we also added six Urgent Care clinics to our network.

Our team includes nearly 400 employed providers and more than 7,000 team members.

About the Communities

Located in the piney and hardwood forests of Northeast Texas, Pittsburg and Quitman (37 miles apart) are outstanding places to live, work, and raise a family. With expansive farmland and lush greenery, Quitman and Pittsburg offer outdoor recreation with parks, proximity to two state parks, great camping locales, and numerous lakes. Residents enjoy Pittsburg's festivals such as the Texas Hot Link Festival, Pioneer Days, and Pittsburg Rodeo, while Quitman draws crowds to Quitman Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.

For larger city entertainment, Tyler is 35 miles from Quitman and 55 miles from Pittsburg, while Dallas is within 90 miles of Quitman and 120 miles of Pittsburg.
