Job DescriptionThe Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is hiring an Environmental Specialist for the Division of Environmental Response and Revitalization (DERR) at our Northeast District Office in Summit County. Your role will involve district Site Coordinator and RCRA Inspector duties, reviewing and preparing work plans, sampling plans, reports, and technical memoranda for remedial action and hazardous waste handling facilities.
Responsibilities- Perform district Site Coordinator and RCRA Inspector duties.
- Review and prepare work plans, sampling plans, reports, and technical memoranda for sites undergoing assessment and cleanup.
- Inspect facilities for compliance with state and federal regulations and permit requirements.
- Investigate complaints and conduct assessments of contaminated environmental or waste-related media.
- Provide technical assistance to Ohio EPA legal staff and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and offer testimony at legal proceedings if necessary.
- 12 months experience as Environmental Specialist 1 (preferred).
- Or 4 years training/experience in engineering or chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, geology or hydrogeology, or comparable physical or health science field with responsibility for compliance monitoring surveys, inspections, or investigations.
- Or a bachelor’s degree in a related physical or health science field, with training commensurate with duties to be assigned.
