American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Twin Falls, Idaho.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3 Labor & Delivery position requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience, comfort with high-risk patients, and the ability to float between L&D and Postpartum/Mother‑Baby.

Responsibilities
  • Acute care hospital setting with a Level 3 NICU supporting patients 30+ weeks gestation; infants under 30 weeks are stabilized and transferred
  • Unit includes 11 L&D rooms (doubling as triage rooms), 2 C‑section suites, 2 PACU recovery bays, and 17 postpartum beds
  • Averages 5–6 deliveries per day and 150–180 deliveries per month
  • Triage volume averages 4–5 patients per day (non‑admitted)
  • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 for intrapartum, 1:1–3 for antepartum, and 1:3–4 for postpartum/mother‑baby
  • RNs are required to titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, and Insulin; insulin drip experience preferred but training is available
  • Telemetry techs are in house; RNs are not required to interpret tele strips independently but must recognize rhythm changes, basic rhythms, and life‑threatening rhythms
  • EFM system is Epic CPN / GE Connect
  • EMR is Epic; candidates should be able to document last Epic usage
  • 12‑hour night shifts (7pm–7am)
  • Every other weekend required; nights rotate Fri & Sat as able, subject to change based on unit needs
  • May be included in holiday rotation
  • Schedule is set 6 weeks in advance by ANM; block scheduling is considered but not guaranteed, and no special scheduling requests will be accepted
  • Staff and travelers may not work more than 5 consecutive shifts per policy
  • Travelers are expected to remain flexible to fill gaps in permanent staff scheduling
  • Nurses float freely between L&D and postpartum/mother‑baby based on staffing and census needs; travelers are also subject to float to sitter shifts elsewhere in the hospital
  • 3‑day preceptored orientation provided covering both L&D and postpartum/mother‑baby
  • Charge nurse typically does not carry a patient assignment; a Resource Nurse assists with triage, deliveries, and staff support when available
  • CRNAs are in house 24/7; OB coverage is in house weekdays and on‑call at night; neonatology has daytime onsite coverage with NP/APP overnight
  • Certified Surgical Techs (CSTs) are available in house 24/7; CNAs support postpartum/mother‑baby with vitals, ADLs, blood glucose, and other tasks
  • Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 and manages respiratory treatments and equipment
  • Experience with a similarly sized L&D and postpartum/mother‑baby department is preferred
  • Navy blue scrubs are required for RNs
  • First‑time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
Requirements
  • Active  Compact RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
  • Required certifications (all must be active; pending not accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring (or NCC Fetal Monitoring certification)
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required; some postpartum/mother‑baby experience also required
  • Must be comfortable working in both L&D and postpartum/mother‑baby settings
  • Must be able to care for high‑risk OB patients
  • Must be able to circulate in C‑sections
  • Candidates with exclusively Critical Access Hospital experience will not be considered
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Valid driver's license required for consideration
