Systemic Psychotherapist / Clinical Specialist

As a Clinical Specialist/Systemic Psychotherapist in the EHS Safeguarding Service you will be passionate about improving the well‑being and welfare of children and young people who are known to the Safeguarding team, either as Children in Need, on Safeguarding / Child Protection plans or looked after and putting them at the centre of all you do. You will provide Systemic consultations and reflective space to the social care team, high quality evidence‑based systemic interventions, be part of an established team and be afforded many different opportunities to use your skills.

This includes assessment, therapeutic work, running groups, supervision and management of staff, consultation and training. We welcome creative and innovative ways to deliver services. In addition to individual supervision and line management, you will have access to many exciting development opportunities. You will also be part of a Team of 6 Systemic Psychotherapists in EHS providing access to peer supervision and support.

This role will attract a health market supplement in addition to the existing salary.

There are 2 available roles, one is based in Kingston and one will be based in Richmond. If you have a preference, please include this in your supporting information.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this post is to improve the mental health and protection of Children and Young People who are known to the Safeguarding Service, either as Children in Need, on Child Protection Plans or Looked after and putting them at the centre of all you do. As a Systemic Psychotherapist in the safeguarding Service for Achieving for Children, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing systemic consultation and reflective spaces to professionals, particularly our social workers and the team.
  • Undertaking systemic assessments of cases which may be complex in nature in order to formulate, plan and deliver a range of interventions.
  • Delivering systemic psychotherapy treatment to children and families who are open to the safeguarding team, as appropriate.
  • Providing clinical supervision to qualified therapists, as required.
  • Provide systemic workshops, training sessions to AfC staff.

The Emotional Health Service (EHS) is a dynamic and progressive team of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, CBT Therapists, Systemic Psychotherapists and Art Psychotherapists. We have staff working in specialist posts in Permanency, Safeguarding, Youth Resilience and Schools. We have a strong sense of team and work together to support children and young peoples emotional wellbeing. We work closely with schools and are one of the current trailblazer sites.

About you:

  • Postgraduate qualification (MA) in Systemic Psychotherapy
  • Active UKCP registration and proven evidence of continuing professional development
  • Social work qualification and registration with Social Work England (desirable)
Skills and experience
  • Experience of working within CAMHS and working with a range of mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of working with children who are known to social care, in need of protection or looked after (desirable).
