OverviewThe Payroll Supervisor role oversees the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the organization. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, maintains payroll systems and controls, and provides guidance to payroll staff. The Payroll Supervisor works closely with HR, Finance, and internal departments to support employee inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Review, approve, and reconcile payroll cycles, adjustments, off-cycle payments, and final checks.
- Maintain payroll records, wage garnishments, tax with holdings, deductions, and direct deposit setups.
- Oversee payroll system updates, audits, and configuration changes to improve efficiency.
- Partner with HR and Finance on employee onboarding, compensation updates, and policy application.
- Ensure federal, state, and local regulatory compliance, including wage/hour laws and tax reporting requirements.
- Prepare and review payroll reports for auditing, budgeting, and leadership review.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly and professionally.
- Train, mentor, and support payroll staff in daily operations and best practices.
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects involving system integrations, process improvements, and year-end activities.
- Experience in payroll processing, payroll compliance, and multi-state regulations.
- Supervisory or team-lead experience in payroll or accounting operations.
- Strong understanding of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycom, UKG, Ceridian, etc.).
- Proficiency in Excel and standard payroll reporting tools.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and lead in a fast-paced environment.
