At Virgin Galactic, our partners rely on the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to provide clarity on business financials and help drive company performance. The Sr. Manager of FP&A leads a team that provides financial support and thought partnership to teams responsible for delivering both business unit and program results. In addition to leading the broader financial planning efforts, the Sr.

Manager supports business unit strategies, including future expansion efforts as we prepare for the upcoming launch of commercial space missions, and ensures that major projects are delivered on budget.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the finance Business Partner to business units, building strong relationships with department leaders
  • Support business unit leadership in the development of strategic plans for current and future business needs and provide insight on opportunities to evolve the organization’s priorities
  • Create, improve, and maintain financial processes and lead the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, including preparation of comprehensive business reviews for executive-level audiences
  • Manage program financials, including development of time-phased integrated budgets and schedules, and ongoing cost and schedule integration
  • Assist in manpower planning, forecasting and reporting to support program resourcing needs
  • Provide vendor proposal and negotiation support, including financial terms and cost analysis
  • Conduct purchase order and invoice reviews, approval and reconciliation against program budgets
  • Analyze and interpret financial data and trends to provide recommendations to improve management decision quality and implement cost-tracking processes
  • Partner with Finance, Controllership, and IT to ensure accuracy, alignment and efficiency of key processes and reporting tools
  • Ensure proper goal alignment for team and direct reports, including performance and development discussions
Required Skills And Experience
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, planning and/or strategy functions, preferably within the aerospace industry
  • At least three years of experience managing employees
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting. MBA preferred
  • Big-picture view on financial analysis with ability to integrate finance and business issues to develop value-driving solutions
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling, including business valuation, ROI and cost-benefit analysis; experience with Oracle and cost-tracking tools is ideal
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple priorities and work accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to influence partners and lead teams
  • Self-starter with curiosity, enthusiasm and ability to thrive amid ambiguity
