Role SummaryWe are seeking a Test & Integration Engineer that will be essential to support the in‑house charging stack development, focusing on the integration and validation of the V2G software stack, as well as the MSP charging performance evaluation.
Additionally, the role will address vehicle-focused interoperability analysis and coordination with the Rivian Adventure Network HIL/System teams, ensuring comprehensive testing and development efforts for conformance tests.
Responsibilities- Design and document test cases at the system and vehicle level based on functional and software requirements
- Plan and execute charging interoperability tests and work with cross functional teams for data analysis
- Work with test & integration as well as systems engineers to diagnose field charging issues and drive resolution.
- Manage and execute vehicle tests for HV charging features and performance improvements
- Plan and coordinate test assets to characterize and validate software functionality
- Track feature maturity through test coverage across unit testing, Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), and vehicle level test assets
- Develop detailed test cases and scripts for validating feature functionality in SIL and HIL environments
- Gather data from communication systems commonly used in embedded systems like CAN and Ethernet as well as from vehicle telemetry stored in the cloud
- Prioritize and elevate issues based on user impact and program objectives
- Support data analysis and KPI tracking for fleet charging performance to feed improvements into the development process.
- Bachelor of Science in mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering
- 3+ years of experience working with control systems – automotive or aerospace experience preferred
- Working experience with charging standards (J1772, DIN 70121 and ISO 15118) preferred but not required
- Working experience with requirements management tools (Jama, Doors, or equivalent)
- Working experience with issue tracking tools (Jira or equivalent)
- Working experience with communication bus monitoring tools (Vector CANalyzer, PCAN or equivalent)
- Working experience with software calibration tools (Vector CANape or equivalent)
- Working experience in firmware integration, calibration, vehicle-level testing, and/or SW debugging at the feature level
- Working experience with developing automated test cases in the unit testing, SIL, and/or HIL environment;
Pytest, OpenHTF, or equivalent experience preferred - Experience with electrical and communication system integration for system level and vehicle level test assets
- Familiar with fundamental knowledge of EV electrical architecture and/or charging.
- Familiar with EV subsystems especially Battery Management System and Thermal Management System.
- Willingness to be hands‑on with vehicle tests and travel up to 50% of the time as required
Salary Range for Irvine applicants: $135,100 - $168,900 USD.
The posted salary represents the lowest and highest ranges that RV Tech reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position. Any posted salary range pertains only to the estimated starting pay for the role. Actual starting pay is based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, skillset, qualifications, specific competencies, relevant education, and location.
