Overview
We are a family-owned used truck business in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, seeking an experienced diesel mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and experienced in diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks.
Responsibilities- Diagnose, repair, and service diesel engines, with a strong focus on Cummins engines
- Perform brake inspections, repairs, and replacements
- Conduct routine maintenance and servicing (oil changes, filters, PM services, etc.)
- Perform DOT inspections and ensure vehicles meet compliance standards
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Keep a clean and safe work environment
- Work efficiently to meet business and customer needs
- Minimum 3 years of diesel mechanic experience
- Strong knowledge of Cummins engine diagnostics
- Experience with brakes, general servicing, and preventive maintenance
- Familiarity with DOT inspection requirements
- Ability to diagnose and repair diesel truck systems
- Own basic tools (specialty tools a plus)
- Valid driver's license (CDL a plus but not required)
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Experience working with used trucks
- Electrical diagnostic experience
- CDL or willingness to obtain one
- Starting pay range: $25-$32 per hour, depending on experience and training
