ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
This position is responsible for :
- Oversees, accepts and processes residents staying in the shelter, monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to shelter rules. Maintains accurate and complete records containing pertinent information; ensures that shelter is maintained in a neat and proper order.
- Checks clients into the shelter, completes required paperwork representing client intake and inputs data into the computer. Wakes up shelter clients at designated time and ensures all residents are out of the shelter by the designated time. Administers client medications as needed.
- Answers telephone and responds to questions regarding the shelter operations.
- Monitors client's behavior and activities to ensure compliance with program guidelines. Monitors and assists clients signing in/out of the shelter. Conducts random and routine bed checks to ensure compliance with rules.
- Provides security for the building and grounds being aware of activities occurring in the building and outside of the building. Monitors telephones, and fire alarm system; notifies proper authorities when law enforcement assistance is needed.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required,
- and
- one year experience working with the public with experience work in a security or social service environment preferred,
- or
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- First Aid and C.P.R. Certification
- Valid State Drivers License, preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior.
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of security practices and procedures.
- Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and effective manner.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
- Limited amount of physical effort required with walking, standing , lifting and carrying light objects. Work is performed in a normal housing environment where there are little physical discomforts associated with changes in weather.
