We are looking for a postdoctoral research fellow for a new emerging research Department of Ecological Anthropology. A fellow will enrich our Prague-based team of three anthropologists – two doctoral students and a senior researcher – who explore contemporary waste regimes. The members of our team focus on waste trajectories constructed along the three analytical axes: landfilling and incineration of municipal solid waste, disposal of cars, and disposal of electronics.
We examine value transformations, informality, classification as well as moral and ethical dimensions of economic practices. Although our current research is situated in Central Europe, we are ready to incorporate a scholar whose regional focus is different. We would like to invite a fellow who prefers ethnographic approaches to research and whose interests converge with those specified above or bring fresh perspectives on waste and discard.
Duration
: 2 years, starting in January 2020.
Eligibility:
The candidate should have obtained his/her PhD degree in anthropology or a closely related field no earlier than 30 September 2017 and no later than 30 September 2019. (Exception could apply to those who spent time at parental leave or placement abroad – relative to the country where they received their PhD.) Please get in touch to consult the details.
Salary
:
The gross-monthly postdoc salary will be around 32.000 CZK.
We expect the successful candidate to reside in Prague and pursue the fieldwork anywhere in Europe or beyond. Note however, that our research funds are limited and you might need to raise extra research funding.
