Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Medical‑Surgical/Telemetry Respiratory Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in Tuscaloosa, AL. This role involves caring for patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions as well as a range of medical diagnoses. Candidates must be comfortable floating to other units and facilities as needed. The Medical Respiratory Unit features 42 beds and specializes in treating patients with pneumonia, COPD, shortness of breath, and various lung diseases
. Nurses also provide care for patients with GI issues, diabetes, strokes, and post‑surgical needs
. The unit operates with a 1:6 nurse‑to‑patient ratio and includes an 8‑bed respiratory step‑down area with a 1:4 ratio for higher‑acuity care. Interdisciplinary rounding occurs daily to ensure comprehensive patient management.
- Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based care to patients with respiratory and medical conditions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and evaluate patient care
- Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and assess patient progress
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment and recovery
- Float to other hospital units as required
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Alabama or a Compact State License
- Temporary licenses not accepted
- Must be verifiable in NURSYS
- AHA or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- Will consider candidates with 18 months total experience and at least 1 year in the specialty area (MS/Tele or Respiratory preferred)
