Job Summary:

The Audio Visual Specialist I develops proprietary control system programs and graphical user interfaces for integrated audio visual systems. Coordinates and supports the overall design and installation of these systems. Serves as technical support for faculty and staff. Manages projects or particular project tasks related to programming development and Audio Visual system design. Provides guidance and training to Audio Visual Technicians.

Department Summary:

Work independently and accomplish advanced audio video systems work in areas such as audio video systems installation and commissioning; trouble‑shooting complex system issues; advanced level control systems configuration. A/V system design. Technical live event planning and implementation. Custom multiplex wiring and installation of hardware components including displays (some large), projectors, speakers, microphones, A/V furniture, etc. in addition to the termination and testing of several types of AV technology.

Monitor and respond to calls to the Audio Visual Solutions help‑desk. Responsible for directing the work of student assistants or other lower level staff. Serve as project manager during peak operations periods. Daily tasks are transitional, employee should be capable and comfortable working in an agile environment. When not on job sites, the employee will be in normal office conditions and be required to use equipment including computers, printers, peripherals, as well as other specialized test equipment and should be proficient with computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel in addition to having a working understanding of networking principles.

Work with faculty, staff, and students daily in the performance of duties as representatives of the department. Demonstrate exemplary customer service skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and sound business judgement as a representative of the department.

Required

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of audio visual technical support experience; OR associates and two (2) years of audio visual technical support experience; OR bachelor's degree and some audio visual technical support experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge:

Advanced knowledge of audio visual systems including the ability to setup, configure, calibrate equipment, particularly related to control system programming and interface design. Basic networking knowledge, working knowledge of customer service, dedication to build on project management skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with end‑users.

Preferred Qualifications:

CTS and other industry certifications (Extron, Crestron, Biamp).
