Position: Academic Advisor I - 527985

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $44,200 - Midpoint: $55,300 (Salaried E6)

Department/Organization: 200019 - Capstone Center for Student Success

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Job Summary: The Academic Advisor I provides guidance to University students on academic progress, courses, University resources, etc. Identifies courses to be completed in upcoming semesters. Explains University and College policies. May teach compass course as needed.

Additional Department Summary: Provides proactive, holistic academic advising, case management, and support for undecided freshmen in the University’s Crimson EDGE and Exploring 4 Success programs.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work with various groups of people. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good public speaking skills. Computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management. Good planning, coordinating, and organizing skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures. Knowledge of advising and academic management software (Banner, Degree Works, onBase, MS Office, etc).

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or at least 18 graduate semester hours in a teaching discipline in areas including STEM, Business, Higher Education, Student Development, or related fields. Experience advising, case managing and supporting undeclared and/or exploratory students. Experience advising, case managing and supporting underserved populations and underprepared new freshmen students. Program design and development experience.
