Job Summary

The Crossing Points Associate assists with advising students in the Crossing Points program with admission concerns and certificate requirements, progress toward certificate, and successful completion of certificate requirements. Assists with identifying and recruiting students from within the Crossing Points program to apply for the Early College participation. Organizes transportation and participation in program related coursework and activities. Communicates with a variety of stakeholders.

Additional Department Summary

Supports the management of the Crossing Points Tier 1 students’ coursework and related activities in Early College. Assists with program design, organization, and implementation. Serves as a liaison between the Crossing Points Program and UA Early College. Works with the staff to advise the Tier 1 Early College participants and oversee participants access to academic and program-related activities that lead toward the Crossing Points Certificate in Occupational Studies (CCOS) program.

Provides complex administrative assistance as needed. Creates promotional materials, and/or assist in the development of other potential programs. Assists with budgetary information related to the Early College access for Crossing Points Tier 1 students. Assists with the management of all aspects of advising, scheduling, and managing the Early College participants in the Crossing Points Tier 1 Program. Maintains communication between Crossing Points, Early College, and LEA partners.

Organizes and conducts information sessions for Tier 1 students and families regarding Early College. Participates in meetings with Early College Advisors. Organizes and conducts information sessions with aspiring Tier 1 students, families, and teachers from partner Tuscaloosa City Schools and Tuscaloosa County School System about the Early College opportunity through Tier
1. Collaborates with CCOS Program faculty in identifying and enrolling Early College participants in appropriate courses and monitoring students’ progress in academics. Participates with Program Faculty in academic data review of Early College student progress, semester report development, and other program data management.

Required

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of academic support experience; OR associate's degree or higher.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent writing and speaking skills. Ability to collaborate with critical stakeholders, including program and LEA personnel, teachers, families and students.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher and two (2) years of related experience with students with intellectual disabilities, and/or previous experience with student advising/guidance.
