Job Description: We are seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant to join our in-office finance team in Tuscaloosa. This is an individual contributor role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is comfortable handling day-to-day accounting tasks and supporting operational and project-based work.

Responsibilities:

General Accounting & Reconciliations

• Prepare and post journal entries as part of the month-end close process
• Perform account reconciliations (e.g., balance sheet accounts, inventory, accruals) and investigate variances
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and support routine financial reporting
• Provide hands-on support for AP, AR, and other transactional accounting activities as needed

Cost & Manufacturing Accounting

• Assist with cost accounting functions, including inventory, WIP, and variance analysis
• Support product costing, standard cost maintenance, and manufacturing performance reporting
• Work with operations to understand production flows and cost drivers

Project Accounting

• Track and monitor project costs, budgets, and timelines
• Assist with project setup, cost allocation, and margin analysis
• Support reporting related to customer-specific jobs or internal projects

Payroll & Tax Support (Asset)

• Assist with payroll-related reconciliations, reporting, or analysis as needed
• Provide support related to multistate payroll and/or tax compliance, where applicable

Process Support & Ad-Hoc Work

• Assist with audits, documentation, and internal controls
• Participate in process improvements and special accounting projects

Provide general accounting support in a collaborative, in-office environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 1 year of relevant accounting experience (internships/co-ops considered)
• Comfortable working on-site in a manufacturing environment

Assets (Not Required)

• Manufacturing, cost accounting, or project accounting experience
• Payroll and/or multistate tax exposure
• ERP system experience
• CPA or Masters in Accounting or Similar

Note:

this position is located in Tuscaloosa Alabama. The successful candidate is expected to live local or plan to relocate to the area prior to starting employment. This position is in office.
