- Responsible for patient care
- Demonstrates safe and proper use of equipment and supplies, including set-up, cleaning and troubleshooting
- Maintains appropriate traffic patterns
- Utilizes PPE and Standards of Transmission-Based precautions
- Helps in the transport of the patient
- Participates in the on-call rotation according to department policy and to insure that patient care needs are met
- Responsible for case cart preparation
- Places case specific supplies on cart according to surgeon preference card
- Responsible for cost containment, conservation of supplies as well as other organizational resources
- Ensures emergency case carts are readily available
- Responsible for procedure preparation
- Anticipates equipment and supply needs
- Selects appropriate equipment and supplies
- Assures the integrity and sterility of supplies
- Assures that the medical equipment is functioning properly
- Assists in cleaning the surgical suite between procedures
- Responsible for surgical procedure
- Assists in positioning of the patient
- Scrubs, gowns and gloves
- Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure
- Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and health care team
- Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to operation and before incision is closed
- Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants
- Assists in draping of sterile field
- Maintains neutral zone for sharps
- Verifies and labels liquids with licensed staff and surgeon
- Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure
- Assists in cleaning and prepping room for the next procedure
- Labels and handles specimens appropriately
- Follows the multidisciplinary goal oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with health care team
- Accesses medication/supply room areas to re-stock items in Surgical Services Areas
- Competent in routine skills within the tech scope of practice
- Provides care and performs observations of all age groups and considers age-specific and cultural differences
- Responds promptly to patient needs, participates in hourly rounding, and facilitates communication among patients, families, staff, physicians and departments
- Performs clerical duties to admit patients and manage orders, labs, radiology, diagnostics, and transfers
- Adheres to regulatory requirements and hospital policies/procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist certification or completion of surgical tech program with at least 5 years OR experience
- L&D experience preferred
- Current BLS certification

Must possess expertise in the understanding and implementation of sterile and aseptic technique. Must combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the ability to implement this with tools and technology to facilitate the physicians during invasive, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Responsible for providing quality patient care.

Compensation: $26.56 - $35.70 hourly. Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including qualifications and experience.
