Position Summary

One temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant position available inMcNair TIRO Grant.

Start Date

Position available on or after April 1, 2026 and ending on or before May 31, 2026. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

Job Description /Duties
  • Assist McNair Scholars with identifying campus resources.
  • Create and facilitate peer‑to‑peer enrichment workshops and meetings.
  • Create flyers and use available technologies and social media to promote events and enrichment workshops.
  • Assist with program outreach and promotion at McNair sponsored events and information sessions.
  • Assist with travel arrangements including use of Concur Software.
  • Assist with the development, promotion, execution, and conclusion of McNair sponsored events.
  • Provide prospective participants, staff, and faculty with program information.
  • Assist students with McNair Scholars Program Application.
  • Assist with McNair Scholars orientation.
  • Manage front desk (emails, filing, scheduling, copying and scanning documents, greeting visitors, troubleshooting computer and printer issues, etc.).
  • Data entry and use of databases such as Excel.
  • Manage and track office inventory.
  • Attend training meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrates a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  • Demonstrates current participation in the McNair Scholars Program.
  • Demonstrates prior experience with Microsoft Office and Google software packages.
  • Demonstrates prior experience working with diverse populations including ethnically diverse, low income, and first‑generation college students.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
  • Post‑baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
Salary Range

$16.90 per hour
