• Position Summary
• Temporary hourly‑intermittent student assistant position available in the Signal Newspaper English Department.
• Start Date
• Position available on or after February 1, 2026 and ending on or before May 31, 2026. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
• Job Description/Duties
• Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Attend one‑hour training session per week with lead editor and/or faculty representative.
  • Produce original content (enterprise, breaking news coverage, and multimedia features).
  • Schedule, plan, edit and post stories from reporters and other editors.
  • Contribute to story budget production and update.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
• Qualifications
• Preferred Qualifications
  :
  • Demonstrates writing experience.
  • Demonstrates general knowledge of CSU Stanislaus.
  • Demonstrates excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Demonstrates prior experience working in teams/groups.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of AP Style.
  • It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent demonstrates fluency in written and spoken Spanish.
• Required Qualifications
  :
  • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
  • Post‑baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
• Salary Range
• $16.90 per hour.
