Assistant Professor of Social Work
Full‑time, tenure‑track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the MSW Program beginning Fall 2026.
PositionCandidate will teach across the curriculum (micro/macro practice, theory, policy, and research), embed social justice principles into social work practice, advise students, develop an active research agenda, serve on University and Department committees, and provide professional service in the community. Secured funding is required.

- Advising of students.
- Developing and maintaining an active research agenda.
- Serving on University and Department committees.
- Developing a record of professional service in the greater community.
- Doctoral degree in social work or related field and Master of Social Work Degree from an accredited institution.
- Five years post‑MSW social work practice experience in diverse individual and community settings.
- Ability to teach across the curriculum (micro/macro practice, theory, policy, and research).
- Commitment to the pursuit of social justice.
- Possesses a clinical license or is license‑eligible.
- Experience teaching foundation and advanced micro practice courses.
- Experience and/or interest in curriculum development.
- Experience with or interest in digital learning in higher education.
- Interest in teaching both face‑to‑face and hybrid courses.
- Experience working with diverse populations/communities.
- Expressed interest in social work practice in the Central Valley of California.
- Expressed interest in and commitment to teaching adult learners.
- Knowledge, interest and skills necessary for curriculum development.
- Demonstrated ability, interest, and active involvement in scholarly activity.
- Commitment to social justice, empowerment and strengths‑based social work practice.
- Ability to work across multiple systems and with diverse populations.
- Desire to work with first‑generation/graduate students who have been systematically marginalized.
- Bilingual.
- Evidence of successful and innovative teaching experiences and a commitment to supporting a diverse student body with a variety of ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

CompensationCommensurate with qualifications and experience. Anticipated hiring range is $7,938–$8,186 per month for Assistant Professor (12 monthly payments per academic year). As a member of the 23‑campus CSU System, a competitive benefits package is offered.
