Overview

Volunteer opportunities at CSU involve volunteers providing time and expertise to the university and its surrounding communities. Volunteers perform work or services to the university without financial gain and may do so for a quarter, semester, academic year, calendar year, session, or any part thereof. Work may be ongoing or for a short-term event. The use of volunteers is at the sole discretion of the department for which the volunteer is providing services.

Volunteer services may end with or without prior notice at any time the department determines they are no longer needed. Volunteers are not employees of the California State University and are not eligible for compensation or benefits related to hours of volunteer service. Under no circumstances can a CSU employee begin work as a volunteer before obtaining appropriate work authorization or completing any required background checks.

• Criminal Background Clearance Notice
• Satisfactory completion of a background check (which may include checks of employment records, education records, criminal records, civil records; and may include motor vehicle records, professional licenses, certification, and/or sex offender registries) may be required to volunteer, depending on the types of duties to be performed. If the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information, clearance to begin volunteering might not be granted.

  California State University, Stanislaus serves the San Joaquin Valley and is a critical educational resource for a six-county region of approximately 1.5 million people. • Clery Act Disclosure

  Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the annual security report (ASR) is now available. The ASR contains security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness information, and statistics of Clery Act crimes for Stanislaus State. A paper copy of the ASR is available upon request by contacting the Clery Director at One University Circle, Turlock, CA 95382.

• Information for Volunteers

  Volunteers are considered a ‘limited mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083, revised 7/21/17, as a condition of volunteering for the CSU system.
