We are seeking an R&D Manager to lead our Research & Development operations in Turkey within the Decorative Paints business, Akzo Nobel-Marshall Boya located in Dilovası.
- MSc in Chemistry/Chemical Technology or Chemical Engineering,
- 5+ years R&D management experience, preferably in paint industry,
- Managed a team of 5+ employees for minimum 2 years,
- Strong leadership in technical, people and administrative areas,
- Able to work easily with cross-functional groups locally and globally (Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, R&D labs),
- Attracting, leading, coaching, appraising and developing team members,
- Ability to think strategically/tactically,
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills,
- Problem solving mind-set, highly organized, Self-motivating,
- No travel restrictions, able to travel internationally. Having a B class driver’s license, can actively drive,
- Preferably completed military service for male candidates,
- Able to reside in Kocaeli or Istanbul,
- Excellent command of written and spoken English,
- Manage and develop a team of 6–10 direct reports across R&D
- Appointment and development of people in the team,
- Understanding TR market requirements and trends,
- Keeping up to date on development and innovation pipeline to connect technology with Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing Unit needs,
- Supporting the business, to deliver the right products in the right quality with the correct labels in the right color at the right cost to the market,
- Responsible for maintaining the existing product portfolio, local implementation, product improvements and regulatory driven projects,
- Actions/escalations raising from quality concerns and competitive assessments (new product propositions, commercial activation),
- Focal point in case of complaints from the market on product performance and color,
- Drive Color technical plans for the business and regulatory compliance,
- Cross functional engagements with various labs across the AN landscape to assess, leverage and localize technologies
- Oversee local product development, value engineering, raw material evaluations, and benchmarking exercises.
- Partner with BU EMEA Product Development Centers for project execution
- Own the transition of formulas from R&D-PDC to manufacturing, ensuring efficient production and quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with Supply Chain and Quality teams.
- Manage the day-to-day operational and people related activities
