RESPONSABILITIES & DUTIES

The Electrical Engineer (Nuclear) will be responsible for:

Designing, maintaining, and ensuring the safe and reliable operation of electrical systems within nuclear power plants, research facilities, and other nuclear installations.

⚡ Working with high-voltage power distribution, emergency backup systems, instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, and regulatory compliance to ensure uninterrupted and safe plant operations.

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including reactor operators, regulatory agencies, and maintenance personnel, to optimize performance and safety.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Designing, analyzing, and optimizing electrical systems, including power distribution, transformers, switch gear, and emergency backup systems.

✅ Ensuring compliance with NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission), IEEE, ANSI, and other regulatory and safety standards.

️ Maintaining and troubleshooting plant electrical systems to prevent failures and minimize downtime.

Developing and implementing electrical safety protocols, testing procedures, and maintenance schedules.

⚙️ Working with instrumentation and control (I&C) systems for reactor monitoring, automation, and safety mechanisms.

Supporting plant modifications, system upgrades, and retrofits to enhance efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Conducting fault analysis, power flow studies, and protective relaying coordination for electrical systems.

Collaborating with reactor engineers, civil engineers, and safety specialists to integrate electrical components into plant designs.

Assisting in regulatory audits, inspections, and documentation related to electrical systems.

Providing technical support and training to plant operators and maintenance teams regarding electrical safety and operations.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education:

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

⏳ 3-7 years in electrical engineering, preferably in nuclear, power generation, or industrial environments (entry-level positions may require internships or co-op experience).

Certifications (Preferred):
PE (Professional Engineer) license, IEEE certifications, or NRC-related qualifications.

Understanding:
Strong comprehension of power generation, distribution, and electrical system reliability.

Proficiency:
In electrical design and analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM Power Tools, AutoCAD Electrical).

Knowledge:
Of nuclear safety standards, regulatory compliance, and emergency power systems.

Familiarity:
With digital and analog control systems, instrumentation, and automation in nuclear facilities.

Strengths:
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Skills:

Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with engineers, operators, and regulatory agencies.

Attention to Detail:
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to nuclear safety and compliance.

Ability:  ⏲️ To work in high-pressure environments and manage multiple projects.

Preferred:

IPO experience.

Written and oral fluency in Italian.

Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
