Job Summary

GA’s Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group focuses on military and commercial applications of advanced electromagnetic technologies, including power generation and distribution, magnetic levitation, laser and weapons systems, and systems design and engineering. The EMS Group supports government customers, including the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation, and a range of commercial customers.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Inspector to join our team in Tupelo. This position is responsible for inspecting parts, assemblies, tooling fixtures, and materials to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company specifications, and quality standards. The role also includes setting up, operating, inspecting, testing, and adjusting tools, dies, gauges, jigs, and fixtures to confirm conformance to engineering drawings and specifications, and maintaining confidential electronic and hard‑copy reports, records, and statistics.

DUTIES

AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect machined parts, components, assemblies, and materials to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines (Military Standards, ASTM, ANSI, ASME).
  • Provide electronic and hard‑copy inspection reports and notify relevant parties, including project engineers.
  • Set up and calibrate measuring and test equipment, schedule service and repairs, and maintain calibration computer databases.
  • Observe testing and provide oversight to verify compliance with requirements; perform nondestructive examinations on metallic and nonmetallic materials using methods such as penetrant, hi‑pot, and hardness testing.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and customers during audits and reviews of inspection and calibration activities.
  • Monitor and verify quality following statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Operate in accordance with all laws, regulations, and company obligations.
  • Work safely per established procedures and practices. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires an associate’s degree, trade school certificate, military training or equivalent in quality inspections, or certification by a professional group such as ASQ or AWS, and one or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or metrology inspection and calibration. Additional experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Must possess:
    • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications, and perform mathematical computations.
    • Strong communication skills to interface with all employee levels, including management.
    • Ability to interpret non‑routine information and respond to non‑routine issues.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
    • Good computer skills.
  • Must be customer focused, work independently or in a team, and be willing to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, DOE quality assurance program requirements, nuclear material, and ASME Y14.5 are desirable.

Salary Range: $47,250 - $70,238
