Job summary:
The Registered Nurse at North Mississippi Health Services Systems is responsible for providing safe, quality patient care using the nursing process, maintaining effective communication with the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role requires leadership skills in prioritizing, delegating, and evaluating work assignments, as well as effective problem-solving abilities to respond to changing patient needs.
- Use the nursing process to provide safe, quality patient care and document accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with NMHS policies and requirements as directed by the Nurse Manager and Educator; provide patient/family education.
- Provide patient/family education and act as a resource for existing staff and new employees.
- Participate in the Preceptor class to ensure proper training of new employees.
- Maintain communication with multidisciplinary team members to provide holistic care.
- Attend daily huddles on each unit to ensure proper assignments and identify team members for the shift.
- Project a caring, friendly, and helpful image to patients and other customers.
- Use the patient’s communication board to inform patients and families about names, dates, goals, staff, procedures, or tests for the day.
- Comply with NMHS behavioral standards.
- Maintain competency by staying informed of changing trends in nursing practice.
- Attend annual reviews and unit-specific updates; complete required continuing education hours online and in-class.
- Comply with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements; hold RN license for the state or a compact state.
- Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing (Required). - Licenses and
Certifications:
RN license (state or compact); CPR; ACLS; PALS; NIH Stroke Scale Certification. - Work Experience:

Strong communication and teaching skills; understanding of regulatory and accrediting standards; ability to prioritize, delegate, and evaluate work; anticipate resource needs; assimilate data and reports; orient new employees; effective interpersonal skills with all customers and co-workers; ability to interact with physicians, ancillary staff, patients, families.
