Job Summary
The Registered Nurse at North Mississippi Health Services Systems is responsible for providing safe, quality patient care using the nursing process, maintaining effective communication with the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role requires leadership skills in prioritizing, delegating, and evaluating work assignments, as well as effective problem-solving abilities to respond to changing patient needs.
Job Functions / Responsibilities- Uses the nursing process to provide safe, quality patient care and document accordingly.
- Adheres to NMHS policies and requirements as directed by the Nurse Manager and Educator; provides patient/family education and acts as a resource for staff.
- Participates in the Preceptor program to ensure proper training of new employees.
- Maintains communication with multidisciplinary team members to provide holistic care.
- Attends daily huddles on each unit to ensure proper assignments and identify team members for the shift.
- Projects a caring, friendly, and helpful image to patients and other customers.
- Uses patient communication boards to inform patients and families of name, date, goals, staff, and procedures for the day.
- Maintains competency by staying informed of changes in nursing practice and completes required continuing education.
- Complies with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements; licensed by the state Board of Nursing and/or compact state licensure.
Education
- Associate's Degree in Registered Nursing. Required
Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure
- CPR
- ACLS
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
Work Experience / Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to maintain department continuing education requirements and unit-specific standards.
- Effective communication and teaching skills.
- General knowledge of regulatory and accrediting standards.
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and evaluate work assignments; anticipate resources needed.
- Ability to assimilate data and report appropriately; orient new employees; interact with physicians, staff, patients, and families.
