The Pipe Foreman will be responsible for supervising crews that install wet and dry utilities in a variety of settings including water lines, storm drain and sanitary sewer lines, and dry conduits. A pipe layer/operator will be assigned to a variety of jobs ranging from heavy highway, underground utilities, commercial site work, street improvements, waste water and water projects.
Pipe Layer / Operator foreman responsibilities and abilities include but are not limited to the list below. Other duties may be assigned.
- Read, understand, interpret and enforce safety policies and practices.
- Examine blueprints to determine dimensions of structure.
- Lay out floor‑plan/worksite as needed.
- Determine sequence of activities concerning fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure.
- Assign workers to tasks.
- Inspect work performed by subordinates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to increase efficiency of work crew.
- Analyze and resolve work problems, assist workers in solving work problems, and initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
- Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job, including basic understanding of equipment limits and designed purposes.

- Minimum of 2‑3 years of supervising/crew leadership experience.
- Minimum of 4‑6 years of experience in pipe laying.
- Minimum of 4‑6 years of operating large heavy equipment experience in connection with pipe laying.
- Work safely.
- Be able to carry 70 lbs. or more – frequent cross body movements such as bending, climbing, twisting, balancing, stooping, etc.
- Flexible availability to include overtime and weekends.
