We seek an experienced, self-motivated individual with a positive work ethic for the fleet maintenance mechanic position.

Summary/Objective

The primary role of this position is to support all levels of mechanical service to our customers. This position works as part of a team to present a positive customer experience. All work provided must follow company policies, procedures, and industry best practices, and no employee should attempt to do any work for which they have not been trained.

Essential Functions

Explain mechanical diagnosis and repairs to non-mechanical individuals as required.

Provide recommendations for repair, list the parts needed, and list the hours required to perform the repairs using industry-standard labor guidelines.

List all items needing attention, whether maintenance, safety, or other.

Road test automobiles and perform vehicle and digital inspection, submitting written findings to sales staff.

Perform repairs to specifications (wheel alignments, steering/suspension systems, brake systems, light engine work, battery, alternator, belts, tune-ups, scan codes, sensors, flushes, etc.).

Maintain service standards of cleanliness and orderliness of space and equipment in the service department (e.g., alignment machines, lifts, brake lathes, etc.).

Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and maintenance schedules.

Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions.

Keep store management informed of service area mechanical repair issues as they occur.

Comply with company safety policy and federal/state OSHA safety requirements, which include but are not limited to the wearing of approved eye/ear protection, proper lifting techniques, and proper footwear.

Attend meetings as required.

Observe all rules and procedures as trained and under Company policy

  • Experience: Proven experience as a mechanic or technician, with familiarity with both diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of vehicle components, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Tools: Proficient in using hand tools, diagnostic scanners, and heavy equipment. Provides own tools.
  • Physical Strength: Ability to lift heavy objects (often up to 50+ lbs) and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Tire shop environment
  • Regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Use of hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery
