The Registered Nurse – Telemetry provides specialized nursing care for adult patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in a telemetry unit. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure patient safety and deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. The position requires strong critical thinking skills and the ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to patient needs in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry readings and respond appropriately to changes in patient conditions.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and deliver patient care.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Accurately document all nursing care, observations, and interventions in the electronic health record.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies and critical situations with clinical competence.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with infection control policies and protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and team meetings.
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry equipment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient assessment skills.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Telemetry or Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) certification.
- Prior experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) (required).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (required).
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) (preferred).
