Description:

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Implements and monitors patient care plans.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions as appropriate.
Serves as a primary coordinator for well-coordinated patient care.
Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
Assesses and coordinates patients' discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Requires critical thinking skills and the ability to work in a stressful environment.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Labor and Delivery nurses provide critical care to expectant mothers and newborns before, during, and immediately after childbirth.
They monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, manage pain, assist with vaginal or surgical deliveries, and educate families on postpartum recovery.
