Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval award amount (up to $200000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

- Collaborate with a variety of health care professionals to achieve common goals for care safety and welfare of patients.
- Foster high levels of confidence and satisfaction among patients and staff as well as meet and exceed compliance standards.
- Provide anesthetic services within five general categories: pre-anesthesia evaluation and preparation; anesthesia induction maintenance and emergence; post anesthesia care; peri-anesthetic and clinical support functions; and emergency response techniques.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive anesthesia plan of care for patients requiring local, regional, general and monitored anesthesia both inside and outside the Operating Room (OR) suite.
- Ensure anesthetic services delivered throughout the facility are of the highest quality to promote patient safety satisfaction and improve outcomes and efficiencies.
- Function as a resource for staff education and is willing to be a preceptor and adjunct clinical faculty for health care trainees rotating through the facility.
- Develop and implement evidence-based practices that are essential to the delivery of the highest quality anesthesia care.
- Prescribe appropriate preoperative, intra-operative and postoperative orders and medications.

- Require long periods of walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling and pushing.
- Transfer patients and objects may be required.
- May be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials; may need protective clothing in isolation, operative/invasive procedures or home settings.
- May encounter patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia or psychiatric disorders.
- Must complete annual employee health requirements such as annual TB screening.
- Pre-employment physical required. Lift 45 pounds or more; push and pull; reach above shoulder; use fingers and both hands; walk and stand for 6 hours; kneel. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- English proficiency required: basic written and spoken English.

- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- Education. A master’s or doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia. Nursing education must be from a school of professional nursing anesthesia accredited by Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs (COA) at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
- Licensure and Certification.
- License:
All APN (CNAs) must maintain an active current full and unrestricted license to practice as a CNA or equivalent in a State Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. - Basic Certification:
All APN (CNAs) must maintain full and current certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) or an equivalent Nurse Anesthetist certification recognized by the COA.
