Position Title: RN - Registered Nurse (Levels 1-3) - Stephenson Cancer Center at Hillcrest - Tulsa
Department: Hillcrest Infusion Center
The Hillcrest Chemotherapy Infusion Center is an adult outpatient facility at the Stephenson Cancer Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma with 24 patient treatment bays, treating roughly 50-70 patients with Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy and Blood Products each day. This is a fast-paced, team-centered environment that requires strong communication skills and the ability to multitask. Our department orientation includes one-on-one precepting and becoming ONS certified to administer Chemotherapy within the first 90 days.

General Description: An OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) I works under general supervision, providing high-quality care to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. RN I represents the nurse who is a novice or an advanced beginner advancing to competent, relying on rules initially and gradually forming principles based on real experience.
Essential Responsibilities- Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards.
- Assume responsibility for an assigned patient or group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician orders for assigned patients.
- Assist physician in examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene as necessary.
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Initiate, regulate and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care safely and competently.
- Resolve patient complaints in a timely manner in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff.
- Inform patient and family of hospital procedures and share care plan during care and at discharge.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Foster a growth mindset through seeking mentorship, remaining open to coaching and maintaining professional certification/licensure to develop and uphold nursing proficiency.
- Develop a professional career plan and establish personal performance goals aligned with enterprise metrics, frequently measuring progress with department leadership.
- Foster an inclusive workforce where individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve OU Health’s winning aspiration.
- Delegate tasks to clinical support staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
RN I
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Experience: 0-3 years of patient care as a Registered Nurse.
- License/Certification/Registration: Current RN license (OK State Board of Nursing or multi-state compact/eNLC). Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
RN II
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Experience: 3-5 years of patient care as a Registered Nurse required.
- License/Certification/Registration: Current RN license (OK State Board of Nursing or multi-state compact/eNLC). Basic Life Support certification required upon hire. Specialty certification(s) preferred.
RN III
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required;
Master's Degree in Nursing preferred. - Experience: 5+ years of patient care as a Registered Nurse required.
- License/Certification/Registration: Current RN license (OK State Board of Nursing or multi-state compact/eNLC). Basic Life Support certification required upon hire. Specialty certification(s) preferred.
- Knowledge of basic professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to respond to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Skilled in computer applications to ensure quality and safety measures for patients.
- Ability to advocate for patients and maintain integrity and trust with patients.
- Ability to manage conflicts constructively and maintain compliance with accreditation standards.
- Ability to foster an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with candor, openness, integrity, and diplomacy.
